RACINE CRUISE 2005
REPORT TO THE FLEET BY CRUISE LEADER JOHN UELMEN
The annual MAST cruise to Racine took place July 9-10, 2005 and was a great success! Four MAST boats participated: IRIE, FIREWATER, TIMELESS and KAYA. It was a great weekend for sailing: lots of sun, no waves, and a good breeze. Saturday was upwind and Sunday was downwind. Appetizers were shared on the balcony overlooking the marina and dinner was at the Chancery overlooking the marina. The boats left the marina around noon on Sunday after the crews enjoyed a leisurely morning that included the marina's hot tubs and pool.
Here is IRIE getting under way on the way to Racine. While we all motored until we got out of Milwaukee Bay, once we were out in the breeze we all found a nice upwind sail with a few tacks to get us into Racine. As you can see few waves made for a smooth sail.
Here is TIMELESS on way to Racine on a gentle Port tack.
Here is FIREWATER enjoying a gentle downwind run on the way back from Racine.
Here is my son Christopher on KAYA enjoying the spinnnaker run on the way back from Racine.
